Skeletal remains found in barrel confirmed as human bones

Police have confirmed that the skeletal remains found in a barrel near the Durian Tunggal dam reserve area in Machap last Saturday are human bones.
In a statement, Alor Gajah police chief Ahmad Abu Bakar said the case had been classified as murder and was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
“There are no further developments at this stage. We have yet to determine the victim’s gender,” he said, adding that the post-mortem examination would continue for a second day today.
The barrel was discovered at about 11.40am last Saturday by three individuals who were fishing at the reservoir.
