Asian Games 2026: India beats Bangladesh, sets up quarterfinal against Japan in badminton men’s team event

India entered the badminton men’s team quarterfinals at the Asian Games 2026 after easing past Bangladesh 3-0 in their first-round match at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium on Monday.
Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, and Kidambi Srikanth won their singles fixtures before the tie could go into the doubles matches.
With this win, India will face Japan in the last eight on Tuesday after the host beat Uzbekistan 3-0 in the first round.
Lakshya eased past Ayman Ibn Jaman with a straight-games win (21-4, 21-12), before Ayush too made easy of his match against Gourab Singha and came out with a 21-4, 21-13 victory.
In the third match, Bangladesh’s Jumar Al-Amin put up some resistance but India’s Srikanth came away with a 21-15, 21-10 win.
On Sunday, the Indian women’s team had won its first-round match against Kazakhstan with a 3-0 scoreline. It too will face host Japan in their quarterfinals.
