Teenager fights for life after suspected northern suburbs shooting

Two men are in hospital under police guard after being found with possible gunshot wounds at a home in Melbourne’s outer north on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to a house on Kaniva Street, Dallas, about 8.20am after receiving reports the two men, who are understood to have known each other, were suffering from serious injuries, possibly inflicted by a gun.

Police said they did not believe anyone else was involved.

The pair, a 22-year-old from Dallas and 19-year-old from Craigieburn, are being treated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital for upper body injuries and remain under police guard.

It comes after a man with organised crime links was executed inside his Wollert home, just a short drive from Dallas, on Thursday.

Innocent bystanders ran for their lives as the possible gunman was caught on CCTV fleeing the scene about 5.30pm Thursday on Gypsum Drive.

Homicide squad Detective Acting Inspector Paul Scarlett said the victim, 42, was located inside a house with multiple gunshot wounds.

“We do believe that this person has got links to organised crime,” he said.

Scarlett said the victim’s family was away when the shooting occurred, but returned home shortly afterwards to find their loved one dead.
