Bernice Saroni Raises Alarm After Son Junior Is Choked by Fellow Student in US School
US-based Kenyan social media personality Bernice Saroni has raised concerns over the safety of children in American schools after revealing that her son, Mr Mwangangi, popularly known as Junior, was attacked and choked by a fellow pupil.
In an emotional social media post on Thursday, November 5, 2026, Saroni recounted how a sixth-grade student allegedly attacked Junior from behind, leaving him struggling to breathe.
According to the mother of four, the incident stemmed from a disagreement involving a traffic cone about a week earlier. She explained that Junior had accidentally knocked down the cone, prompting the other student’s father to pick it up, after which her son apologised.
However, Saroni claimed the pupil appeared to have held a grudge over the incident before allegedly confronting and choking Junior days later.
“Today, my heart is broken as a mother. My baby, Mr. Mwangangi (Junior), was CHOKED at school by a 6th-grade student who attacked him from behind,” she wrote.
She further alleged that the student blamed Junior for angering his father while assaulting him.
“While choking my baby, he told him, ‘YOU MADE MY DAD ANGRY!’” she recounted.
Saroni thanked Junior’s friends for stepping in and rescuing him from the attack, revealing that her son later called her while crying and struggling to breathe.
“My baby called me crying, struggling to breathe, telling me, ‘Mommy, a kid choked me!’” she added.
Saroni Questions School’s Supervision
Following the incident, Saroni said she immediately contacted the school to establish how her son had been attacked while under its care.
She claimed she was informed that teachers had been outside while the pupils were left unsupervised in the bus room.
According to the social media personality, the school principal initially said she was unaware of what had happened but promised to review CCTV footage.
Saroni said the principal later called her back and confirmed that the footage showed the sixth-grade student choking Junior.
The incident left her questioning the school’s supervision arrangements and the measures in place to protect pupils from violence.
“WHERE WERE THE TEACHERS? WHO WAS WATCHING OUR CHILDREN? HOW SAFE ARE OUR BABIES IN SCHOOL?” she posed.
Bernice Saroni Speaks on Raising Black Sons in America
Saroni, who is raising four Black sons in the United States, also expressed concern over what she described as hatred and violence directed at Black children.
She questioned why her son had to experience such an ordeal in an environment where children are supposed to feel protected.
“And as a Black mother raising four Black sons in America, I cannot help but ask: Why so much hatred? Why should our children have to experience this kind of violence?” she stated.
The mother maintained that regardless of the circumstances, no child deserved to be subjected to violence or made to feel unsafe at school.
“I don’t know what was in that child’s heart, but I know what happened to my son was WRONG,” she added.
Saroni further admitted that the experience had shaken her confidence in the school’s ability to protect her children, explaining that parents send their children to school trusting that they will be safe.
“No child deserves to go to school and come home traumatised. School should be a place of learning, not fear,” she said.
She vowed not to remain silent whenever the safety and wellbeing of her children were threatened.
“I WILL NOT KEEP QUIET WHEN IT COMES TO THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN!” Saroni declared.
She concluded her emotional message with a prayer for children, particularly those whose parents cannot always be physically present to protect them.
