Miss Grand International 2026 kicks off in Thailand, Emma Tiglao shines in gold

Translate

The race for the Miss Grand International 2026 crown officially began on Saturday, Oct. 10 in Bangkok, Thailand as this year’s edition welcomed 78 delegates vying for the crown.

The grand opening number kicked off with reigning queen Emma Mary Tiglao donning an all-gold attire seated on a golden throne. The Filipino queen led the “Devdas” dance performance alongside this year’s delegates who sported glittering blue outfits.

Following the historic back-to-back win for the Philippines last year, Reina Filipinas Angelica Lopez is on a mission to pose a “three-peat” for the country as she aims to inherit the title from Tiglao, who succeeded Filipino titleholder Christine Juliane “CJ” Opiaza.

The first cut of tonight’s competition will see 25 delegates advance to the semifinal round, which also include the winners of the “Miss Popular Vote,” “Grand Talent” and “Country’s Power of the Year.” The remaining 17 slots will be filled by the judges’ picks.

The Top 20 will compete in the swimsuit round, which will help determine who will advance to the Top 10 round. Nine judges’ picks will move forward, and will be joined by the delegate who will receive the most online votes from the public.

The coronation night is currently live on the Grand TV YouTube channel. /edv
