Independent wrestler Syko Stu has said he intentionally did not return Quinton “Rampage” Jackson's call. His son, Raja Jackson, attacked Stu during a KnokX Pro wrestling show in Los Angeles in August 2025. This left him with serious head and facial injuries. Speaking on the SOS Podcast, Stu said Rampage tried to contact him while he was in the hospital. However, he changed his mind after hearing the former UFC champion discuss the incident on several podcasts. Stu claimed those comments portrayed him unfairly, including suggestions that he drank excessively.
Syko Stu reveals why he refused to return Rampage Jackson's call
Syko Stu's real name is Stuart Smith. He said he did not have access to his phone during his hospital stay, so his wife handled the flood of calls and messages. When he eventually reviewed them, he saw that Rampage had called and requested a callback.
However, after seeing Rampage speak publicly about the case, Stu said he felt the former UFC light heavyweight champion had already formed a negative opinion of him.
He stressed, “I was like, 'Well, you know, I'm not going to call you back if you already made up your mind about me, you know.'"
He added that people who actually know him would not support the claims made about his drinking.
Raja Jackson's brutal attack left Syko Stu with no memory of the incident
The incident took place at a KnokX Pro event in Los Angeles on August 23, 2025. Syko Stu had confronted Raja outside the venue and smashed a beer can over his head.
He believed it was part of a planned wrestling angle. The two later shook hands, with an agreement that Raja would deliver one protected punch in the ring.
Instead, Raja entered the ring, slammed Stu to the mat, and knocked him unconscious. Then landed more than 20 unanswered strikes to his head before wrestler Doug Malo intervened.
Stu said he has no memory of the attack and did not regain consciousness until the following Tuesday.

Stu suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, a shattered maxilla and the loss of two teeth. He spent nearly five days in hospital, said he had to relearn how to walk, and remained away from work for about a year.
He believes he is physically capable of wrestling again. He claimed that the memory problems and the mental impact have kept him away from the ring on medical advice.
Raja Jackson pleaded no contest in May to one felony count of battery with serious bodily injury. He received 90 days in Los Angeles County jail, two years' probation and restitution of about $81,703 to Stu, and completed the jail term earlier this week.
Stu also clarified that he never said he forgave Raja. His position, he explained, was that he was not carrying a grudge, not that he had excused the assault.
