India’s Davis Cup 2026 campaign came to an end as its defeat against South Korea was confirmed at the Olympic Tennis Court in Seoul on Saturday.
After Dhakshineswar Suresh and Sumit Nagal suffered singles defeats on Friday, India knew that it would need a near-perfect day to get through to the last eight for the first time since 1996.

It needed to win all three in order to clinch the tie and reach the Davis Cup quarterfinals for the first time since 1996.
It made a big call early in the day as Dhakshineswar replaced Niki Poonacha as N. Sriram Balaji, and the pair managed to defeat Jisung Nam and Uisung Park 6-3. 3-6, 6-3 in the doubles rubber to keep the tie alive.
However, Nagal was unable to beat World No. 157 Soonwoo Kwon in the first of the reverse singles, thus sealing a 1-3 defeat and ending India’s campaign.
For South Korea, this is the first time it has reached the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup.
