Translate

Officers from the Israel Police's Jerusalem District opened an investigation into an incident involving shots fired into the air in Silwan, east Jerusalem, on Sunday.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area and began conducting extensive searches and investigating the incident.

The police's preliminary inquiries suggest that Arab residents of the area began throwing stones at a group of young Jewish men passing through the area.

In response, one of the young Jewish men opened fire into the air as a warning shot to drive the suspects away.

Israel Police reported no injuries at the time of writing.

Several terror attacks occur in West Bank ahead of Yom Kippur

Meanwhile, there were two other notable terror attacks in the West Bank ahead of Yom Kippur.

At least one person was killed in a suspected shooting attack in the area of Neveh Tzuf in the West Bank, north of Ramallah, on Sunday afternoon.

The killed individual, a man in his 30s, was originally in critical condition. His condition was temporarily updated to severe after Magen David Adom personnel succeeded in restoring his pulse through CPR.

He was evacuated by helicopter to Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva, before succumbing to his wounds.

Additionally, the IDF killed one terrorist and arrested a second terrorist who attempted to commit a car-ramming attack against soldiers stationed in the Ganim area of the Menashe Brigade's sector of the West Bank, the military said on Sunday afternoon.
