Sydney Sweeney is dominating HBO Max with two R-rated movies on the streaming service's chart, and one of them has just managed to break into the streamer's coveted top 10. Sweeney is one of the most in-demand actresses in the industry. After her breakout role in one of the most popular TV shows in recent memory, HBO's Euphoria, Sweeney earned her rising star status. Not only has she appeared in some of the best HBO series of all time, including The White Lotus and Sharp Objects, but Sweeney's move to the big screen has been extremely lucrative for her and studios.

Sweeney's list of movies is ever-growing, with the actress having explored horror through Immaculate, drama through Christy, and more. That said, two of Sweeney's R-rated movies have risen above the actress' other theatrical releases thus far. Those are the psychological thriller The Housemaid, which is based on the Freida McFadden novel of the same name, and the rom-com Anyone but You, which is loosely based on the William Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing. Now, both of those Sweeney R-rated movies are trending on HBO Max, with Anyone but You recently breaking into the chart to continue her streaming domination.

At the time of writing, the $220 million Anyone but You has become the 9th most popular movie on HBO Max in the United States, according to data from FlixPatrol. The film not only leaves behind The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley on the streamer's nationwide chart, but it cements Sweeney's domination of HBO Max, making company for the thriller The Housemaid, which currently stands tall as HBO Max's 3rd most-watched movie in the US. That R-rated psychological thriller is only defeated on the chart by Hugh Jackman's The Death of Robin Hood and Olivia Wilde's star-studded The Invite.

Both of the Sweeney R-rated movies arrived on HBO Max in October. The Housemaid was the first to do so, coming to the streaming service on October 9. That is why Sweeney's R-rated psychological thriller with Brandon Sklenar and Amanda Seyfried has been trending on HBO Max nationwide for 16 days. As for Anyone but You, the rom-com starring Sweeney and Glen Powell came to HBO Max on October 20. As such, the movie has started to trend on the streamer after a week of availability. With Sweeney's hold on HBO Max's chart, Anyone but You should climb higher now that it has arrived.

What's Next On The Star's Plate?

Sweeney has a few movies on the way following her newfound streaming success. One of those is a sequel to The Housemaid, being based on the second book in McFadden's series, The Housemaid's Secret, which will be released in theaters on December 17, 2027. Other upcoming Sweeney movies include the tragicomedy The Custom of the Country, with Leo Woodall, and the Netflix sci-fi adaptation Gundam, in which Sweeney will co-star with one of the streamer's biggest stars, Noah Centineo. The actress' HBO Max success with The Housemaid and Anyone but You could help boost her upcoming releases.
