Asian Games 2026: Anahat Singh settles for silver as Sivasangari retains squash gold

India’s Anahat Singh finished with the women’s singles squash silver medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 after losing 4-11, 4-11, 7-11 to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the final on Sunday.

Anahat won the opening point, but Sivasangari soon took charge of the contest. The Indian repeatedly found the tin as the Malaysian reeled off six consecutive points to lead 7-3. Sivasangari eventually stretched that run to eight before Anahat stopped it at 9-4, but the Malaysian closed out the first game 11-4.

Sivasangari began the second with a 4-0 lead, using changes of pace effectively. She drew Anahat towards the front before driving the ball deep and hard, making it difficult for the Indian to recover. Sivasangari moved 8-3 ahead before taking the game 11-4.

Anahat offered greater resistance in the third, but her shot selection continued to let her down at important moments, with several attempts finding the tin.

Sivasangari meanwhile used flatter and penetrating shots to keep Anahat under pressure. She closed out the third game 11-7 to complete a straight-games victory and secure her second successive Asian Games singles gold.
