DMW: 66 OFWs, families receive P4-M assistance

MANILA, Philippines — Sixty-six overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families in Batangas received a total of P4.075 million in financial assistance, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

The assistance was distributed through the agency’s AKSYON Fund during the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” event at the Batangas Provincial Capitol on Monday.

Of the 66 beneficiaries, 46 received P50,000 each, nine received P75,000 each, and 11 received P100,000 each.

“Ang AKSYON Fund at ang ating mga inilapit na serbisyo ngayong araw ay direktang tulong upang muling makabangon ang ating mga OFW,” DMW Assistant Secretary Violeta D. Illescas said in a statement.

(The AKSYON Fund and the services we brought today are direct assistance to help our OFWs recover and get back on their feet.)

The assistance was distributed in coordination with the provincial government.

Aside from the financial aid, the DMW service desk attended to 15 clients seeking legal assistance, livelihood applications and help with online concerns.

The agency also monitored an off-site job fair at Robinsons Place Lipa, where recruitment agencies participated in hiring activities.
