Delhi High Court sends notice to Salman Khan, seeks response on plea to stay 'Kala Hiran' release

The Delhi High Court has sought Salman Khan’s response to a plea filed by the makers of ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legal’, who have asked the court to put on hold proceedings in the actor’s lawsuit seeking to prevent the film’s release.According to PTI, Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani issued notice to Salman on Tuesday after producer Amit Jani argued that the dispute surrounding the proposed film overlaps substantially with an earlier case filed by the actor over his personality rights.Salman has sought legal restrictions on the release of the film, which is reportedly based on his life. In their latest application, the filmmakers have argued that allowing the two matters to continue independently could lead to parallel proceedings concerning the same film, its promotional content and the alleged infringement of Salman’s personality or publicity rights. As per the application, Salman had previously approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights. The court subsequently granted him an ex-parte ad-interim injunction on December 11, 2025.The actor later moved another application seeking an interim injunction specifically against the proposed film. Amit Jani’s plea states that this application is still pending before the court. The filmmaker has further contended that the relief sought by Salman in the current proceedings is substantially the same as that sought in the earlier case. This includes seeking restrictions on the film’s release, exhibition and dissemination, as well as its teasers.
