However, one famous face some fans are wishing was part of the fun is Gallagher, though the Oasis star is not so keen himself.

After a social media user expressed their wish to see the Oasis star on the hit BBC show, Gallagher repsonded: “I’ve been asked it’s not my thing I’m not a celebrity.”

The BBC declined to comment.

The show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, sees contestants try to detect the traitors in the group while completing a series of challenges to win funds to contribute towards the prize pot.

If, at the end of the series, at least one traitor is left among the finalists when they collectively decide to end the game, the faithfuls – those who are not traitors – lose out on the money and the traitor or traitors win the full prize.

The second season of the celebrity version launched on Thursday, with the premiere becoming the most watched debut episode of any series of the programme in the UK, with an average of 8.9 million viewers.

Grant found himself under increasing pressure over his earlier admission, with the actor being told by Romesh Ranganathan that he has “forced our hands”. Julie Hesmondhalgh, Hannah Fry and Leigh-Anne Pinnock also faced questioning as the group debated who could be hiding a secret.

However, the episode ultimately ended on a cliffhanger when the episode ended before viewers could find out who had been banished form the castle.

The Celebrity Traitors continues on Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
