AKA’s mom Lynn Forbes makes heartbreaking admission about Tibz

AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, has opened up about Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane’s death as seven men stand trial for the murders of the two friends.
Her comments came after she attended the first day of the high-profile murder trial at the Durban High Court on Monday.
Lynn also turned to Instagram following the emotionally charged day, sharing another post about her late son as his murder case finally plays out in court.
But it was her admission about Tibz that laid bare the toll the killings have taken on both families.
LYNN FORBES OPENS UP ABOUT TIBZ
Gunmen shot AKA and Tibz outside the now-defunct Wish restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road on 10 February 2023.
Lynn sat alongside Tibz’s father, Sylvester Motsoane, when the trial opened.
She comforted him in court as proceedings turned to the deaths of their sons.
“I always felt a little bit guilty that Sylvester lost his son, because my son was supposed to be the one,” Lynn said.
Her comments refer to her belief that AKA was the intended target of the shooting.
Seven men now stand accused of plotting and carrying out the murders.
‘IT’S ABSOLUTE TORTURE’
Lynn does not plan to sit through every day of the trial.
She made it clear that listening to evidence about her son’s murder would come at a heavy emotional cost.
“I don’t want to be here to sit and listen and torture myself, ’cos it’s absolute torture,” she said in an interview.
Instead, she plans to follow proceedings without putting herself through every detail presented in court.
Lynn also thanked investigators and prosecutors for getting the case to trial more than three years after the murders.
She pushed back against criticism over how long authorities took to bring the matter before court, saying investigators needed time to build their case.
For her, a verdict will not change the reality her family faces.
“My son’s gone,” she said.
KAIRO KNOWS TRIAL IS UNDERWAY
AKA’s daughter, Kairo, also knows that the men accused of killing her father are standing trial.
However, the family has tried to shield her from the details.
“Kairo knows I am at court today, but we try not to speak too much about it to her because it is upsetting,” Lynn said.
The family has kept the focus on protecting her while the case moves through court.
SEVEN MEN FIGHT MURDER CHARGES
All seven accused pleaded not guilty when the trial opened on Monday.
They face 11 charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder and firearm-related offences.
The State alleges the men formed part of a plot to kill AKA.
