Notice Regarding Unauthorized Access to Servers Managed by Our Group
The Japan Times, Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) hereby announces that certain servers managed by a group company have been subject to unauthorized access.
We are currently conducting an investigation in cooperation with an external cybersecurity specialist to determine whether any information was leaked, the scope of any potential impact, and the cause of the incident. We are still working to determine and confirm whether any information was in fact leaked and, if so, the specific scope of the impact. We expect the investigation to take some time to complete.
Our digital services, including The Japan Times Online, subscriber databases, and payment systems, operate on separate and independent infrastructure from the servers affected by this incident, and we have identified no impact or security issues affecting these services as a result of the incident. Our services, including newspaper publication and our websites, also continue to operate as usual.
The Group takes this matter very seriously and will continue to work with the relevant authorities and other parties to establish the facts and further strengthen our security measures.
