Ohio college janitor hid in ceiling above locker room to photograph women’s soccer team, police say

A janitor at Wilmington College in Ohio was arrested Tuesday for hiding in the ceiling above a locker room to photograph the women’s soccer team as they changed, police said.

Jayson Barker was charged with 11 counts of voyeurism after a member of the team spotted the alleged offender snapping photos from above in a locker room at the Scheve Athletic Center.

Barker was detained by campus security until police arrived.

He was held on $22,000 bail at a nearby jail after his arrest but has since been released after posting it, according to the police and jail officials.

Wilmington College said in a statement that Barker worked for a vendor and that the school’s relationship with the custodial services contractor has since been terminated.

“The College’s paramount concern is the safety and well-being of its students,” Wilmington College said in a statement. “We have been providing counseling and other support services for the affected students since Tuesday night and are taking measures to ensure that no student’s safety or well-being is compromised.”

Investigators are trying to determine whether Barker has a history of similar conduct. He could face additional charges. Barker is next due in court on Oct. 5.
