Netflix announces new comedian-filled gameshow with "all-star" lineup and Taskmaster's Bob Mortimer

Netflix has confirmed a new comedy series featuring an "all-star line-up" of comics and celebrities. Hot or Cold will be led by Taskmaster and Last One Laughing stars Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade, which takes place in a "mysterious institution".

However, there is a twist in that "challenges that appear to make no sense", with the pair's only guide being the room they're in, which will light up red when they're getting warmer and blue as they get colder.

"The challenges range from the simple to the completely absurd and totally hilarious as the pairs race through room after room to be crowned Hot or Cold champions," the synopsis further teases. "It’s the classic childhood game now played by adults who really should know better."

Opening up about the series, Bob said: "Spending time with Richard Ayoade is one of my all-time favourite things to do. Closely followed by playing Hot or Cold, so this has worked out brilliantly."

"Although I prefer mild temperatures, it’s been instructive to participate in something as binary as this," Richard added.

Zeppotron executive producer Chris Cohen further said: "I've spent my entire career in telly walking into rooms and having no idea what's going on, so it's a delight to work with Netflix and finally make a show with that exact premise.

"We are thrilled to have two of Britain's best in Bob and Richard at the heart of it all."

Bob won an early season of Taskmaster, while Richard is competing on the current run of the Channel 4 show. The pair famously faced off in the debut season of Prime Video's Last One Laughing, with Bob returning for the second earlier this year and Richard set to re-enter in next year's third.

Meanwhile, back in May Bob led tributes to Ted the Dog, the fan-favourite canine companion on Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, after he passed away.

"So very, very sad. Lovely Ted, the best companion and the greatest little chum. Going to miss him so much… and away boss," the comedian said.
