Serie A | Torino 1-1 Lecce: A point each in chaotic stalemate

Torino and Lecce both stalled their dismal recent form with a point apiece, in a game delayed by a wonky goal-line, then decided by two deflected efforts.
The Granata had a strong spell of form with three straight victories, followed by back-to-back defeats against Como and Frosinone. Niccolò Fortini, Ricardo Rodriguez, Rolando Mandragora and Franco Israel were still out injured, but Alessio Cacciamani returned.
Lecce lost five of the last six games, culminating in a damaging home defeat to relegation contenders Genoa. Joel Monteiro joined Medon Berisha, Santiago Pierotti and Ivan Ilic on the treatment table, but Kialonda Gaspar’s two-match ban expired, with Lassana Coulibaly and Willem Geubbels available again on the bench.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

There was a bizarre situation where the kick-off was delayed by 16 minutes because officials realised with goal-line technology that the lines had been drawn incorrectly and were not completely straight, so that had to be adjusted by the pitch staff.
The first real opportunity saw Lecce threaten to score directly from the corner flag, forcing Lucas Perri to scramble it out from under the bar.
Amar Fatah failed to make the most of the counter-attack after robbing Ardian Ismajli, while Sandro Kulenovic also didn’t take full advantage of a Tiago Gabriel slip.

Giovanni Simeone blasted over from a promising position, though if he had scored it would’ve been disallowed for handball.
The deadlock had to be broken by a massive stroke of luck, because the Simeone angled drive was perhaps not even on target before taking a huge deflection off Kialonda Gaspar to loop up over a helpless Wladimiro Falcone.

Lecce equalised in similar fashion, as the Konan N’Dri effort from the edge of the area looped up off Daniel Braganca to enter the net.
It remained open, Che Adams setting up Zakaria Aboukhlal to sting Falcone’s gloves with a side-foot finish, but Torino were the ones left with the biggest regrets.
At the 88th minute, first an acrobatic Adams overhead kick bounced off the woodwork, then Simeone was denied by Falcone on the follow-up from close range.
