adidas, Mercedes-AMG F1 bring 'Lights Out' experience to KL

Translate

ADIDAS and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team have brought their Formula 1 collaboration to Malaysia with Lights Out Kuala Lumpur, an interactive pop-up at Central Exchange, The Exchange TRX.

The two-week activation till Oct 4 comes as adidas expands its presence in Formula 1 following its multi-year partnership with Mercedes-AMG Petronas.

The partnership marks the sportswear giant's entry into the pinnacle of motorsport as an official team partner.

Under the partnership, adidas is responsible for creating a complete range of apparel, footwear and accessories for the Mercedes team, covering drivers, engineers, mechanics and other team members as well as products for fans.

The partnership began in 2025 and entered its second season in 2026, with adidas introducing a new teamwear collection featuring updated performance materials and designs for the team and its supporters.

Beyond clothing, adidas has also brought its sports-performance expertise directly into the F1 environment.

Its Climacool System, comprising an insulated jacket and cooling vest, was developed to help Mercedes drivers manage heat during races in hot conditions.

The collaboration has also produced race-specific and lifestyle collections, including releases tied to races in Miami and Las Vegas, combining Mercedes-AMG Petronas' motorsport identity with adidas' sportswear and streetwear design language.

For adidas, the F1 move is part of a broader strategy to tap into the sport's growing crossover with fashion, entertainment and youth culture.

The company has described the partnership as a way to reach new consumers while bringing its performance and lifestyle expertise into motorsport.

Lights Out Kuala Lumpur takes that strategy into the Malaysian market, giving fans an opportunity to experience the partnership away from the racetrack.

The pop-up showcases the adidas and Mercedes-AMG Petronas collaboration through a motorsport-themed experience, with visitors able to drop by throughout its two-week run.

The activation comes as Formula 1's commercial world stretches well beyond the racetrack, with teamwear, fashion collaborations and lifestyle products increasingly turning team colours and racing identities into everyday culture. T

he Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team's adidas partnership is a clear example, with collections designed for both the paddock and fans beyond it.

For Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the partnership offers another canvas on which to project its team identity, taking the visual language of the Silver Arrows from the garage and grandstands into streets, shops and popular culture.

For adidas, F1 brings together the brand's performance heritage with one of motorsport's most recognisable global platforms, giving it access to fans increasingly drawn to the overlap between racing, sport, fashion and lifestyle.
