Neil Young Says Digger Is “The Best Movie I Have Ever Seen”

Translate

Between the critics and the box office, the movie Digger has had a rough time of it, but its famous fans are growing in number. This includes Neil Young, who used his personal website to share a nearly 300-word take on the Tom Cruise film, which he says “cannot be seen as a Tom Cruise film – that would be misleading. I would describe it as a film of our times.”

Continues Young, “The things that are said in Digger are a direct reflection of today’s political and social world. The film is so full of artful expression and radical change ups, that it may be too much to take in for those expecting a commercial film like we are used to today.”

Young also advises against reading any reviews of the movie, because “none of the reviews I have read describe this film adequately, in my opinion. They seem to miss the overall effect and most of them are negative. This film lives in a world of art. It is its own best review.” (Neil, if you’re reading this, you might check out Consequence‘s take.)

Second Song, Young’s 50th album, just debuted in September (around the same time as Digger, actually). And Digger is still in theaters now.
