‘No Man’s Sky’ anniversary ‘Cosmos’ EP is now available to stream

No Man’s Sky celebrated its 10-year anniversary with the massive ‘Cosmos’ update and a 5-track EP of new music, which is now available to stream.

Action adventure survival game No Man’s Sky was originally released in August 2016 and players have spent the past decade exploring the procedurally generated open-world, which includes 256 galaxies and over 18 quintillion planets. According to the game’s development chief Sean Murray, players have still discovered less than one per cent of No Man’s Sky.

More than 40 updates have been released for the game over the past 10 years including the anniversary Cosmos update, which went live last month.

“Become director of a space station, join a galactic alliance, construct a space base and discover deep-space marvels in No Man’s Sky Cosmos,” reads an official description of the expansion. “Navigate space with a new star system map, strip colossal hulks for parts before hull integrity fails, recover and haul physical salvage to remote space outposts, celebrate 10 years of No Man’s Sky in the ‘Our Journey Continues’ expedition, and much, much more.”

As part of the Cosmos update, No Man’s Sky audio director Paul Weir created five brand new tracks which have now been made available to stream – check out the ‘No Man’s Sky Cosmos’ EP here.

“Paul Weir’s expansive electronica across five tracks accompanies players as they explore the spectacular, bizarre, dangerous and beautiful marvels of deep space,” said Laced Audio, who are putting out the record. “Whether you’re flying into a star (‘Letari Ascending’), joining a galactic alliance, or stripping a space hulk for parts (‘Meltdown’), the patient swells and synth stabs of the soundtrack make every activity feel majestic.”

Previously, 65daysofstatic composed companion album ‘Music For An Infinite World’ for the original release of No Man’s Sky. Last year, they released double album ‘Journeys’ which reworked their generative game soundscapes into “as finite, intentional pieces of music”. The project was created in collaboration with Weir, who the band described as “some kind of sound wizard.”
