Horizon Education Records Student Growth Across Two Indonesian Universities

Jakarta (ANTARA) — Horizon Education recorded significant student growth at Horizon University in Karawang and Kalbis University in Jakarta during the 2025–2026 school year, with the two institutions now serving more than 3,500 students.
Horizon Education partners with PHINMA Education, a higher education network serving around 178,000 students across the Philippines and Indonesia. Since coming under Horizon Education’s management in 2024, Kalbis University has more than tripled its incoming freshman class.
Kalbis University currently offers programs across Business, Technology, Communications, Psychology, Design, and Tourism, while expanding its academic offerings with new programs in Nursing, Midwifery, Primary Education, and English Education.
Among its students is Dinda, who put her education on hold to help support her family after seeing her father, who lives with a disability, work as a driver. After spending four years in the workforce, she enrolled in Kalbis University’s Kelas Karyawan, a flexible degree pathway for working professionals, to pursue a Business Management degree while continuing to work full-time in Jakarta.
“I used to think studying and working could never happen at the same time. Kalbis' Kelas Karyawan program proved me wrong — I get to pursue my career and my degree at once, without choosing between them,” Dinda said.
Horizon University in Karawang has also recorded growth, serving students from the wider Purwasukasi region, which covers Purwakarta, Subang, Karawang, and Bekasi Regency. Its enrollment has nearly tripled over the past six years to almost 3,000 students.
The university houses the region’s largest Health Sciences faculty, offering diploma and undergraduate programs in Nursing and Midwifery, as well as the Nursing Professional Program. In the 2026 competency examinations, the Nursing Professional Program achieved a 100 percent passing rate for the first time.
The university also recorded 100 percent passing rates for its D3 Midwifery program for four consecutive years and its D3 Nursing program for three consecutive years.
Beyond health sciences, Horizon University offers undergraduate programs in Informatics, Information Systems, Information Technology, Accounting, Management, and Tourism. Five new undergraduate programs — Psychology, Communication Science, English Education, Primary School Teacher Education, and Early Childhood Education — have also been introduced.
Farras, a nursing graduate of Horizon University, became the first member of her family to earn a university degree. Her mother, Yayah, said support throughout the educational journey played an important role for their family.
“Sometimes what gives parents confidence isn't just the name of the university — it's the people behind it, the ones who believe in their children and walk alongside them every step of the way,” Yayah said.
PHINMA Education Country Head for Indonesia Dr. Raymundo P. Reyes said accessible academic programs and a supportive learning environment remain central to PHINMA Education and Horizon Education’s approach in Indonesia.
“Every student has a different journey. Some are working professionals, some are the first in their family to attend college, and many are balancing school with family responsibilities,” Reyes said.
“We believe higher education should adapt to students' lives — not the other way around — so they have every opportunity to complete their studies and achieve their goals,” he added.
Both Horizon University and Kalbis University also run the Global Workplace English Program to strengthen students’ English proficiency and confidence, alongside hands-on learning approaches supported by coaching and guidance.
Horizon Education operates under Yayasan Triputra Persada Horizon Education. Its universities partner with Triputra Group and Persada Capital as industry partners and PHINMA Education as an academic partner, with a focus on developing graduates who are job-ready, ethically grounded, and prepared for global opportunities.
