Ringgit opens higher as inflation eases, OPR normalisation in focus

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar on Tuesday despite a stronger greenback, supported by easing domestic inflation and expectations of a possible normalisation of the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR).
At 8am, the ringgit strengthened to 4.0780/0850 against the US dollar, compared with Monday's close of 4.0805/0845.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) reported that inflation eased to 1.8 per cent in September 2026, from 1.9 per cent in August.
