Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with the National Police (Polri) Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto and 10 former Polri chiefs at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday.

Several senior government and military officials were also present, including Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Head M. Herindra, Deputy Defense Minister Yusuf Jauhari, Army Chief General Tandyo Budi Revita, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The meeting took place amid an investigation into an alleged illegal wiretapping case targeting the president, several national figures, and members of the public.

A former Polri chief, identified by the initials LSP, has been named a suspect along with three other senior police officers.

Before the meeting began, Prabowo welcomed and shook hands with the 10 former Polri chiefs as they arrived at the venue.

The former Polri chiefs were General Roesmanhadi, General Surojo Bimantoro, General Da'i Bachtiar, General Sutanto, General Bambang Hendarso Danuri, General Timur Pradopo, General Sutarman, General Badrodin Haiti, General Rusdihardjo, and General Tito Karnavian.

The retired generals led the police force between 1998 and 2019. General Idham Azis, who served as Polri chief from November 2019 to January 2021, did not attend the meeting.

In footage released by the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo opened the meeting before several former Polri chiefs addressed him.

The participants sat around a roundtable, with Suyudi and Sjamsoeddin seated on either side of the president.

Also seated in the rear rows were several senior Polri officers, including Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Head Commissioner General Asep Safrudin and Internal Affairs Division Head Inspector General Mahmud Nazly Harahap.
