Shubman Gill reaches 200, becomes second batter after Rohit with multiple double centuries

India captain Shubman Gill created history on Wednesday, becoming only the second batter in the history of ODI cricket to score multiple double-centuries in the format.Gill reached the milestone in the 39th over, during India's mammoth chase of 406 runs in the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati.

Shubman Gill's first double ton came against New Zealand in Hyderabad on January 18, 2023, when he had scored 208 runs off 149 balls.Earlier in the match, Rohit Sharma also completed his century (101 off 75 balls) as both openers put together a 255 run partnership to put India on track of 406-run target.Rohit Sharma added another milestone to his illustrious ODI career during the match and became the seventh batter to score 12,000 runs in Men's One Day Internationals.Rohit reached the landmark with a single off Roston Chase in the 16th over, becoming only the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to enter the 12,000-run club.

Rohit joined an elite list that includes Tendulkar, Kohli, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardena.

In terms of innings, Rohit is the second-fastest batter to reach 12,000 ODI runs. Kohli reached the mark in 242 innings, followed by Rohit in 282 and Tendulkar in 300. Ponting took 314 innings, while Sangakkara reached the milestone in 336.Rohit is also the second-fastest to the mark in terms of balls faced. He reached 12,000 runs after facing 12,973 balls, behind Kohli's 12,853.
