Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Central Board of Muhammadiyah launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-based assistant called ChatHPT during the 33rd National Congress (Munas) of Tarjih at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (Umsura) on Thursday.

“As a form of anticipation and adaptation to developments in life in the digital revolution era, Muhammadiyah has developed the Compilation of Tarjih Decisions (HPT) platform. Anyone who wants to learn Muhammadiyah’s decisions, religious thought, and views can simply open the platform,” said Muhammadiyah General Chairman Haedar Nashir in Surabaya.

Haedar said ChatHPT was developed to make it easier for the public, particularly Muhammadiyah members and the younger generation, to access the scholarly products of the Tarjih and Tajdid Council.

According to him, the use of information technology is part of Muhammadiyah’s effort to adapt to the current development while providing an easily accessible source of religious knowledge.

“This is a form of using the latest information technology for religious purposes. The aim is for us to live in the right way, more better, and more fittingly, and to understand the direction and meaning of life,” he said.

Haedar expressed hope that the platform will serve as a guide for Generation Z and Generation Alpha in facing life’s challenges in the future.

He said Muhammadiyah’s digital technology development is also linked to several programs, including SatuMu and Masa, which are expected to complement access to information and services for the public.

In addition to the launch of ChatHPT, the 33rd Tarjih Munas is discussing a range of religious and social issues under the theme of strengthening faith, beautifying morals, reinforcing worship, and empowering the community to build a progressive civilization.

Topics under discussion include fiqh for the elderly, food sovereignty, the treatise on faith, and the treatise on morals. The discussions are aimed at addressing issues facing the community, society, the nation, and the global sphere.

Haedar explained that the discussion on fiqh for the elderly relates to the need for religious services for senior citizens, a group whose numbers continue to draw attention.

Meanwhile, the discussion on food sovereignty concerns strengthening agricultural policy and meeting national food needs.

He added that Muhammadiyah continues to contribute to building the community and the nation through education, health, social welfare, the economy, and religious enlightenment.

According to Haedar, strengthening these fields is necessary so that Indonesia can manage its natural wealth independently and sovereignly.

“Our nation must have capability, and its young generation must have strong character. Managing the nature given by God must be done responsibly, with trustworthiness, and based on the common good,” he said.
