The Ayer Molek seat is expected to see a straight fight between Ridhwan and Hakimin. In the 2021 state election, BN won the seat with its candidate, Datuk Rahmad Mariman, securing a majority of 2,802 votes.
According to the Election Commission, Ayer Molek has about 24,600 registered voters.
Ridhwan, who is also Hang Tuah Jaya Umno division chief, previously contested the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election but lost to Adam Adli. Hakimin, meanwhile, is a new face.
