Golden State Valkyries Win Title, Then Hand Angel Reese’s "Too Small" Taunt Right Back at Championship Parade

The Golden State Valkyries celebrated their WNBA championship with a parade in San Francisco on Wednesday, but a few well-aimed jokes at Angel Reese nearly stole the show. Thousands of fans in lavender lined the Embarcadero, and the cameras caught team staff trolling the Atlanta Dream star.

Angel Reese Trolled At Valkyries Championship Parade

Valkyries staff were spotted in shirts showing Reese's face morphed into the crying Michael Jordan meme, along with her “too small” hand gesture. Fans also shared a photo of a pink pacifier with a paper tag reading “if found return to: ATL.” The fan who posted it said these were actually being handed out.

The jibes trace back to Game 3. After the Dream beat Golden State to take a 2-1 series lead, Reese was seen doing the “too small” taunt toward the Valkyries' bench. It was aimed at forward Aminata Gueye, who had guarded her for much of the series. Reese finished that night with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Things did not go her way after that. Reese never scored more than 15 points in any of the final four games, and Golden State won Game 7. Gueye then posted a photo of Reese mid-taunt on Instagram, while Tiffany Hayes made the same gesture on an Instagram live.

Kiah Stokes And ESPN Chart Add To Valkyries Victory Lap

Reese was not the only target. Center Kiah Stokes stepped off the ferry in a shirt copying ESPN's title-odds chart from late July, which listed the Fever, Aces, Lynx, Liberty and Dream as the top five picks. Golden State was sixth. ESPN Insights replied on X, “Sorry we were a little late to the party.”

The doubts were understandable at the time. The Valkyries were 10-7 at the midpoint and 3-6 against playoff teams. They also finished the year without a single All-WNBA player, a first for a champion.

Then they went 13-4 after the chart came out and finished 32-12 as the No. 2 seed. As of Nov. 4, ESPN's updated chart gave them a 100 percent chance of winning the Finals. Stokes, who won her fourth championship, also set a Finals record with 19 blocks.

For now, the Valkyries have the trophy, the last laugh and a parade full of memes. Whether Reese answers the roast remains to be seen.
