India on Sunday secured its first medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 as the women’s team grabbed a silver in the 10m air rifle team event.
Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa K. Vinod combined for a score of 1898.0, which got the troika a second place behind China.
India is also assured of a bronze medal after Suchika Tairyal advanced to the semifinals in women’s traditional 60kg weight category in mixed martial arts.
Japan’s Takumi Hojo claimed the first gold medal of the Games as he won the men’s triathlon on Sunday.
