KOTA BARU: A nurse was seriously injured after being stabbed six times by her husband at their home in Kampung Padang Lepai near Kadok on Monday.

The 44-year-old victim, who suffered stab wounds to her body and neck, is receiving treatment at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital.

Following the 8.38pm incident, police arrested the 47-year-old suspect to assist in the investigation.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri said police received a report on the case on the same night.

He added that the suspect was detained after surrendering himself to police.

"Police have yet to establish the motive behind the incident.

"The suspect has been remanded for seven days from yesterday to assist in the investigation," he said when contacted.

Azmir said the case was being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons.
