Egypt unveils vision to develop human capital for expanding transport sector

The Ministry of Transport reviewed the state’s plans to develop specialized human resources needed to keep pace with the rapid expansion of the transport sector and its growing infrastructure projects.
The ministry presented its vision during a World Bank-hosted workshop titled “Investing in Human Capital for the Future of Transport in Egypt: Moving Forward with the Vision of Establishing the Egyptian International University for Transport Engineering and Technology (ENUT),” attended by South Korea’s ambassador to Egypt.
The workshop explored cooperation with leading Korean institutions, including the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT), Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU), Korea National Railway and Hyundai Rotem, as well as international development partners.
The ministry said in a statement Sunday that Egypt has invested more than two trillion LE since 2014 to develop and modernize its transport system, covering roads, railways, public transport, ports and logistics networks.
Against the backdrop of continued expansion, the ministry is advancing the establishment of ENUT as a specialized institution combining academic education, technical and vocational training, applied research, innovation, and technology transfer, it added.
The university aims to prepare specialists capable of meeting the current and future needs of Egypt’s transport sector.
The project is being developed in cooperation with the World Bank, the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF) and Korean academic and technical partners.
It is intended to eventually make ENUT a regional center for transport education, training, applied research and capacity building serving Egypt as well as the Middle East and Africa.
