TV tonight: Linda Cardellini stars in a Friday the 13th prequel from A24

Translate

9pm, Sky Atlantic
A Friday the 13th prequel series produced by A24? Halloween has come early for gorefest fans. Linda Cardellini plays small-town single mother Pam Voorhees, who takes her son Jason (Callum Vinson) to summer camp where she works as a cook. But one day Jason drowns in the lake. Fast forward a year, and Pam is grieving but clings to a shred of hope as her son’s body still hasn’t been found. When two cops knock on her door to tell her they have discovered Jason’s remains, things take a huge turn – and it turns out there’s more to her and Jason’s story than meets the eye … It has all the jump-scare beats of a classic 70s slasher movie and Cardellini gets stuck in – blood, guts and all. Hollie Richardson

Jamie’s 20 Minute Meals

8pm, Channel 4
A cheesy quiche with smoky ham and a punch of mustard, and chicken breasts flambéed in a brandy and onion sauce are the two main courses knocked up by chef Jamie Oliver in real time in this week’s episode. And to wash it all down: a prosecco and pomegranate spritz. HR

Clickbait Clinic With Stacey Dooley

8.30pm, BBC One
Meet Marcello, a biohacker who is part of the methylene blue movement – he believes the supplement that’s the colour of Sonic the Hedgehog can boost brain function. So much so, he gets it infused into his body in a car park in Surrey. Evidence for its health benefits is scant and you will be passing bright green pee for days. Dooley investigates. Priya Elan

As the 60th anniversary of the horrifying Welsh disaster is marked, it’s customary to remember Aberfan as simply a tragedy. This deeply affecting documentary recasts it as a scandal, too: an inevitable result of long-running industrial negligence. The memories of eyewitnesses are interspersed with the story of the tireless campaign for accountability. Phil Harrison

Pierre

9pm, Channel 4
Poor Pierre (David Harewood): his wife and boss are losing patience with the duty solicitor as he attempts to get to the bottom of young client Michael’s death – all while ignoring his recent diabetes diagnosis. But could some footage on Michael’s phone provide a breakthrough? A solid legal drama, lifted by a suave Harewood. HR

Walter Presents: Soviet Jeans

12.05am, Channel 4
The first episode of this Latvian drama gets a terrestrial airing to mark its launch on Channel 4’s streaming service. It’s the classic love story: hidden-market trade guy falls in love with theatre director gal … and so does a KGB agent. Expect plenty of drama from this tale of Riga in the 70s. Alexi Duggins
