A political pressure group, Grassroots 121 Action, has inaugurated 5,000 polling-unit canvassers in Ekiti State to mobilise a minimum of 200,000 votes for Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, in the 2027 election.
The Convener of the group, Lanre Fajuyi, disclosed this in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, noting that the canvassers would lead grassroots mobilization across the state’s 2,445 polling units.
Fajuyi said the group’s operational structure covers all 16 local government areas of the state, with the newly inaugurated Unit Coordinators and Assistant Unit Coordinators expected to engage voters directly.
She charged the canvassers to identify key community issues and sustain mobilisation efforts across every polling unit.
Fajuyi explained that the 200,000-vote target formed part of a broader strategy to establish a strong grassroots network ahead of the 2027 presidential poll.
“We have set a clear target of a minimum of 200,000 votes in Ekiti State. This is not a declaration to be made and forgotten; it is a responsibility that requires organisation, commitment, and sustained engagement at the grassroots,” she said.

The group also criticised the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, alleging that they had heightened financial strain on Nigerians.
“The present administration’s policies have imposed significant economic pressures on ordinary Nigerians and contributed to increasing hardship and declining purchasing power,” the group noted.
Fajuyi further described the Federal Government’s interventions on poverty, unemployment, food insecurity, and the rising cost of living as inadequate.
“Our advocacy for Makinde is therefore part of a broader political conversation about the direction of the country ahead of the 2027 presidential election,” she added.
The group maintained that its campaign would focus on voter education and political participation, emphasising that the inauguration marked the start of long-term mobilization across the state.
