Nicolas Cage walks back 'homeless' claims after $10M Malibu mansion sinkhole disaster

Nicolas Cage walked back claims he was "a little bit homeless" months after a sinkhole engulfed his $10.5 million Malibu mansion.
The "ConAir" star admitted earlier this week that he was adapting to a unique housing situation following September's disaster where severe coastal erosion impacted his beachfront abode.
Cage, 62, explained that he got carried away in describing his property problems while "riffing with a very good interviewer" at Comic Con over the weekend.

While appearing at the L.A. event, Cage divulged that upcoming Halloween plans were a little tricky due to the sinkhole situation.
"I’m currently a little bit homeless," he said, per Page Six. "Something happened to my house in Malibu so I’m just sort of living in hotels, so I don’t have normal trick-or-treaters I would like to enjoy tonight."

The "Face/Off" actor revealed he would instead take his four-year-old daughter, August, trick-or-treating in nearby Santa Monica before tuning into Stanley Kubrick's classic, "The Shining."

Evacuations were issued for more than 30 homes on the private road near the west end of the affluent community, with the city explaining that the properties were unsafe due to "the loss of access for Fire and Sheriff’s personnel to respond to medical, fire or law enforcement emergencies."
Cage clarified with the Associated Press Wednesday that his words were taken out of context.
"I went to Comic Con and I was riffing with a very good interviewer and he just had to ask, because it was Halloween night, 'What are you doing for Halloween?'" he said. "Now, when I said that, I meant my house is not available for trick or treaters."
