BATU PAHAT: Seven areas in Johor recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in the unhealthy category as of 9am today.

Segamat recorded the highest API reading at 186, followed by Pasir Gudang (180), Larkin (178) and Tangkak (171).

The Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System showed Batu Pahat recorded an API reading of 161, while Pengerang and Kota Tinggi recorded readings of 165 and 164 respectively.

API readings between 101 and 200 are categorised as unhealthy and can affect the health of children, the elderly and those with respiratory illnesses.

All schools in Johor are closed for two days from today due to poor air quality.
