PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain is to be returned to the police force, following a decision to end his secondment to the agency.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the decision had just been made last week.

"We have made the decision to return him from his secondment to the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency to the police," he told reporters here today at his ministry's monthly assembly.

"He is a police officer seconded to the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency.

"So, we are returning him to the police force. The police will make the necessary arrangements," he said.

Asked when the decision was made, Saifuddin said: "We made the decision last week."

Asked who would fill the MCBA director-general post, he replied: "Police."

He did not elaborate further.

Shuhaily, who was previously the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director, was named MCBA's director-general in June last year.

On Oct 21, Shuhaily pleaded not guilty at the Sepang magistrate's court to two charges of voluntarily causing hurt to two Special Branch policemen at Counter J of KLIA Terminal 1 on Sept 28.

A day before the charges, Shuhaily said he was ready to face any outcome under the country's legal system.
