Russell Wilson used to read defenses for a living. This week, the former Seattle Seahawks quarterback read a different market and bought in. He and his wife, Ciara, are now co-owners of QALO, a wearables company that sells a band and a ring for tracking heart health, sleep and stress. Ciara announced it on Instagram. Wilson retired from the NFL in June, and he already has a desk at CBS, a kids' clothing empire and a racehorse. The latest purchase now puts a health gadget on his wrist and his name on the box.
Ciara Wilson Wants Better Health To Stop Being A Luxury With QALO
Ciara posted the news with a photo of the couple wearing the gear. Her opening line was short. "Better health shouldn't be a luxury!" she wrote. "Welcome to QALO!"
The longer caption carried the details. "We are grateful to be Co-Owners of @QALO where subscription-free tracking on heart health, sleep, stress and performance are our priority. We track HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen, stress and women's health through our new QALO Band and QALO Ring," Ciara added. "Welcome to Better Living."
Two details stand out. The first is price. Many wearables hide their best features behind a monthly fee, so a no-subscription pitch speaks to buyers tired of paying twice. The second is HRV, which measures the small variation in time between heartbeats. Athletes use it as a rough signal of recovery. A man who took hits for 14 seasons has reasons to care.
Russell Wilson Turned Down The New York Jets For A CBS Microphone
The Jets offer was real. Wilson, 37, had a chance to back up Geno Smith, his old Seattle Seahawks teammate, with the New York Jets. He weighed it out loud. "They offered me, and I'm trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do," Wilson told the New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy on May 6. "I still know I can play ball at a high level, but also I have an opportunity to do TV [analysis], so we'll see what happens."
June brought his answer. Wilson posted an Instagram video called "Thank You, Football" and walked away after 14 seasons: 10 in Seattle, two with the Denver Broncos, one with the Pittsburgh Steelers and one with the New York Giants. He finished with 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdown passes and a Super Bowl XLVIII title. These days he works as an analyst on CBS's "The NFL Today."
The couple's business life started well before the retirement. Their children's sportswear label, 3BRAND, topped $100 million in sales in 2024, according to Forbes. Their horse, Club Reign, won its debut at Saratoga Race Course in August. They joined the Seattle Sounders ownership group back in 2019.
