Channel 4 offers glimpse at Nigella Lawson on Bake Off

Nigella Lawson plays around with her new co-stars in a trailer for The Great British Bake Off.

The TV cook, 66, has replaced Dame Prue Leith, who announced in January that she was stepping down after nine series on the show.

In the clip, Lawson, along with fellow judge Paul Hollywood and co-hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, stand in the Bake Off kitchen pretending to put their forks into something just off camera.

They each take turns individually in front of the camera, with Lawson looking in the lens and saying: “You’re mine, my divine.”

Another clip sees Hollywood laughing when someone off camera says: “Can you get on Paul’s shoulders for this one?”

Hammond also interrupts Hollywood and Fielding as she appears on camera and says: “ladies first.”

Lawson then manoeuvres her way to the front of the group before a message appears on screen reading: “The bake is back.”

The TV star, who is best known for her best-selling cookery books, including How To Be A Domestic Goddess, and her Channel 4 show Nigella Bites, says that, as a judge, she likes to look for the positive.

She said: “I always try to look for the positive as well, because you never want criticism to make people feel inadequate, or to be something that pampers them rather than encourages them.”

Lawson has also received the blessing of former judge Prue Leith, who believes she is the right person for the job.

Speaking on This Morning in August, she said: “I didn’t have to give her any tips but I did tell her to just enjoy it because she’s so good. She was quite nervous.

“She’s so well qualified and knows exactly what she’s doing and the audience love her.”

The Great British Bake Off starts Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
