DA Central Visayas boosts digital connectivity


MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture Region VII (DA-7) recorded download speeds of 823.26 megabits per second after being connected to the government’s dedicated network through the Department of Information and Communications Technology Region VII (DICT-7).
DICT-7 launched the Government Network (GovNet) connection at the DA-7 compound in Cebu City on Monday, Sept. 14, as part of the nationwide “Handog ng Pangulo” caravan.
A live speed test also recorded an upload speed of 945.77 Mbps.

“The initiative marks a significant milestone in upgrading the agency’s digital infrastructure to foster faster, more efficient public service delivery,” the DICT said in a statement.

The connection is intended to support DA-7’s digital operations, including data processing and the delivery of agricultural services in Central Visayas.
DICT-7 also provided wireless connectivity during the “Handog ng Pangulo” activities at the Cebu Provincial Capitol, where around 7,000 people participated in trade exhibits, a job fair and other activities. —Rendell Ivan Manuel, INQUIRER.net trainee
