Translate

NAIROBI, Kenya Oct 28 – Kenyans woke up to challenges accessing M-PESA on Wednesday morning, with users reporting difficulties completing mobile money transactions as Safaricom confirmed a system issue affecting the service.

The disruption is reported to have started as early as 2am, raising concerns among customers who rely on M-PESA to send money, make payments and access funds for their daily needs.

In a response to the complaints, Safaricom acknowledged the problem and said its technical team was working to restore normal service.

“We are experiencing a system issue affecting M-PESA. Issue has been picked and shared with the relevant team. Kindly bear with us as we work to restore normal service,” the company said.

The announcement came as customers sought answers over the service interruption, which affected their ability to carry out transactions.

However, Safaricom did not immediately disclose what caused the system issue, the number of customers affected or when normal services would be fully restored.

The company has urged customers to remain patient as its team works to resolve the issue.
