Before Stardom With…Oparaimo

Translate

My name is Emmanuel Chinonye Mgbemere, popularly known as Oparaimo. I went to Baptist Seminary, Mgbirichi, Imo State. I did my secondary school at Army Day Secondary School, Obinze.

How did you join the creative industry?

My major talents are acting, skit-making and content creation. I have loved music from a young age, although I never really trained myself to pursue it professionally. So, when the opportunity came to be featured on a track and release a single of my own, I grabbed it and gave it my very best. I must say, it has been a rewarding experience, with only a little tension along the way. I have developed myself into being an influencer and a creative director.

What were some of the challenges you faced?

The entertainment industry in Nigeria will always bring one face-to-face with challenges. I faced rejection, disappointments and bankruptcy. Growing up in a city with little or no love for entertainment is tough. You have to go miles and work so hard to make it.

Which of your comedy skits went viral?

I got a lot of viral skits like Hug Transformer, The Rib of my Rib, Lick Mango and many more.

What advice would you give to up-and-coming content creators?

My advice is, don’t lose yourself trying to be another person or competing; it will never be easy, so grow a thick skin. Your creativity is your identity, so build it meticulously, and lastly, be ready to take clash backs from colleagues and viewers because they definitely will come.

Are you currently working on any project?

Yes. I just did the first full movie titled HE. I will be uploading it on my newly launched channel, Colture Studio, by the ending of this month.
