A new Resident Evil remake collection has officially been confirmed by Capcom, and it will arrive in January 2027, possibly sooner than most would expect. The classic survival horror franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and though nothing apart from the Code Veronica remake has been announced for the future, fans are waiting for Resident Evil 10, a successor to this year’s Resident Evil Requiem. While that doesn’t happen, however, fans may be able to dive into some of the classics with a new remake collection due to arrive next year.

As was highlighted by a new report from Nintendo Life, the beloved survival horror franchise is about to get a brand-new remake collection, and it’s arriving in January 2027. According to the report, the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 are getting a new home on the Nintendo Switch 2, giving a whole new audience of players access to the titles. The article reports on each game’s file size on Nintendo’s hybrid console.

The Resident Evil remake collection for Nintendo Switch 2 was announced back in early September, but it’s now closer than ever. The digital versions of the games are already available, as they were released on October 16. As such, fans who are eager to play or replay these titles can already pick them up via their console’s eShop. However, the January 2027 release window is related to the physical retail launch, as highlighted by Nintendo Life.

If you want a physical case for these games, you’ll have to wait until January next year. There is a risk that the physical release comes with a Game-Key Card for Nintendo Switch 2 that will enable you to digitally download the game, rather than an actual physical cartridge you insert into your console. Nintendo Life’s report states that Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition occupies 14GB, while Resident Evil 3 only requires 12.9GB. Lastly, Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will need 29GB of storage space.

Resident Evil 4 Villagers-1

The great thing about these new releases on the Nintendo Switch 2 is that they are the complete package. This means that the full base game and all DLC for each game, respectively, are included. Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, for example, will contain the base game, plus the remarkable Separate Ways DLC for RE4.

Revealed earlier this year, the Resident Evil - Code: Veronica remake, called Resident Evil: Veronica, is the only major known project in the franchise’s pipeline for now. The remake is expected to launch at some point in 2027, but we’ll know more details about this upcoming Resident Evil release in the future.
