Mahama visits Kente Exhibition by Russia-Ghana Parliamentary Forum in Moscow

President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday visited the Kente Exhibition by the Russia-Ghana Parliamentary Forum as part of the official activities surrounding the Third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow.
The Exhibition, which is being organised by the Russia-Ghana Parliamentary Forum in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and Ghana’s Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, seeks to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through kente, one of the country’s most iconic and internationally recognized traditional textiles.
President Mahama, in his remarks, commended their friends from the Russian Parliamentary Group for their friendship with Ghana.
“While we have contacts from government to government, and we have relations between our two governments, the more enduring partnerships are the relations between people and people,” he stated.
“People-to-people relationships, and the only way we can consolidate people-to-people relationships is to understand each other’s cultures.”
The President noted that he was very appreciative that the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, together with their partners, had been able to bring the Kente Exhibition to Moscow.
“I understand, almost 11,000 people have so far come to see this exhibition, and it is well laid out, and all the explanations have been translated into Russian, and so you can understand the Adinkra symbols and all the exhibits that are here,” President Mahama said.
