Dungeon Crawler Carl fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months, and plenty to keep them distracted while they wait for the highly anticipated Book 9 two-volume finale, currently titled The Beautiful Place. With a live-action television series in the works, the franchise is about to expand far beyond Matt Dinniman's bestselling novels, with several new ways for fans to explore the World Dungeon for themselves.
Among the most exciting upcoming releases are Renegade Game Studios' Dungeon Crawler Carl tabletop roleplaying game and Unstoppable deck-building game, both of which enjoyed an enormously successful crowdfunding campaign. For fans who've dreamed of creating their own crawlers and navigating the dungeon's countless horrors, the TTRPG in particular promises an entirely different experience.
Now, a surprise announcement from Soundbooth Theater is making the upcoming TTRPG even more exciting, with some special bonus content that longtime audiobook listeners will immediately recognize.
Backers of Renegade Game Studios' hugely successful Dungeon Crawler Carl tabletop gaming campaign are getting some unexpected bonuses, courtesy of Soundbooth Theater and longtime audiobook narrator Jeff Hays. The company has announced that it's developing a full audio edition of the Dungeon Crawler Carl TTRPG rulebook, alongside an official soundboard designed to bring the chaos of the World Dungeon directly to players' tables.
Hays, who voices Carl, Princess Donut, and numerous other characters throughout the audiobooks, confirmed that he'll be the primary narrator for the rulebook's audio adaptation. This won't be a condensed introduction to the game, either. Soundbooth Theater plans to record the entire 350-plus-page core rulebook, giving players a way to familiarize themselves with the mechanics, character creation, and other rules without having to read through the physical book.
The audio rulebook could be especially fun for first-time tabletop players or Game Masters preparing their own campaigns. It'll be accessible through the Soundbooth app, which already hosts the Dungeon Crawler Carl Audio Immersion Tunnel, the series' cinematic adaptation featuring full-cast performances, original music, and elaborate sound design.
Arguably even more exciting is the official Dungeon Crawler Carl soundboard, which will incorporate sound effects and ambient music pulled directly from the Audio Immersion Tunnel. Players will be able to trigger familiar sounds during their tabletop sessions, creating a much more immersive experience that feels closer to the audiobooks. Renegade has also teased the inclusion of recognizable character voice clips and iconic announcements like the Dungeon AI's "NEW ACHIEVEMENT!"
These aren't the only bonuses that Soundbooth Theater has prepared either, as Hays also revealed that he's narrating an audio adaptation of Archie, a 54-page short story written by Ben Wolf and included with the Crawler Chaos expansion for Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable. Unlike the rulebook and soundboard, which will eventually become available for individual purchase, the Archie audio adaptation is exclusively reserved for original campaign backers.

All three bonuses are free for eligible backers, regardless of whether they supported the TTRPG, Unstoppable, or both. Redemption keys will be distributed through the BackerKit pledge manager as each component becomes available, with no additional purchase necessary.
Soundbooth Theater previously explained that production would follow its work on the third season of the Audio Immersion Tunnel, with additional development needed to integrate everything into the app, which means it's currently in the works. Renegade currently lists summer 2027 as the anticipated release window for the audio rulebook and soundboard, while the Archie recording was originally targeted for fall 2026.
Overall, the new Jeff Hays content for the Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG is the icing on the cake for crowdfund supporters in the coming months, and as the game approaches its retail release, having full access to the sound board and RPG rulebook narration equals ultimate bragging rights.
