Daredevil: Born Again season 4 being canceled makes the matter of the MCU hero who's set to be revived for the second time in season 3 all the more complex. The release of Daredevil: Born Again has been a much-focused on aspect of the MCU timeline that has marked a major milestone for the franchise, given the series serves as a spiritual successor to Daredevil, years after its cancelation and subsequent 2018 ending.

While Daredevil: Born Again coming to fruition was a celebrated matter, this hasn't prevented it from its own run being cut short, as it's now been reported that the series will be coming to a conclusion with season 3, meaning the run we'd previously had teased for the series is going to be far shorter than previously anticipated.

This means much for Daredevil: Born Again's considerable character roster, since their stories will need to be provided with conclusions that are at least satisfying enough to feel like fitting ending points for the series itself, even if some avenues can be followed up further in other releases. Given Daredevil: Born Again is reviving a notable Marvel character for the second time in their MCU story, this doesn't seem like it will be an easy feat for at least one figure.

Daredevil: Born Again Ending With Season 3 Makes Elektra's MCU Return All The More Complex For The Franchise

Though Daredevil: Born Again is set to become one of the MCU's longest shows in the franchise's history with the impending release of season 3 in March 2027, the prior plans for the series to continue on further have seen a new update, as it's been reported that the new intention is for the series to end with season 3, rather than to continue on into Daredevil: Born Again season 4 and further onwards.

This has a lot of prospective knock-on effects for the MCU, but one of the most interesting and most easy to overlook is that this adds further complexity to the fact that Daredevil: Born Again season 3's set photos appeared to confirm that Elektra would be returning to the MCU, following her death at the end of Daredevil season 2, her revival shortly after, and her subsequent seeming second death in the finale of The Defenders, which would also become a canon part of Daredevil season 3, episode 1.

Given The Defenders' ending finished this Elektra's story off for what will be 9 years by the time of Daredevil: Born Again season 3, it's fair to say her return - and second revival of sorts - is a big deal for the Daredevil series and the wider MCU.

However, it now seems whatever story is planned with the character is going to need to be told potentially in its entirety in the span of Born Again season 3, which presents some real prospective challenges, given it understandably doesn't seem Elektra will be the sole focus of the season, when taking into account all the other storylines that need to be tied up or brought to a satisfying point.

The MCU's Newest Movie Has Offered A Way To Solve The Franchise's New Elektra Challenges

While it does seem Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is teed up in a way that makes how it will handle Elektra's story and return complicated at best, the larger MCU has been given another way to deal with this matter thanks to the latest in-universe updates around The Hand, the group that Elektra is a key part of in her comic and MCU history alike.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day reintroducing The Hand and showing them having a resurgence of sorts following them being made a part of the Department of Damage Control, the broader MCU is teed up in a way wherein other releases would now have an excuse to delve into Elektra's story, due to her history with The Hand, and due to her being likely to either join them or stand against them depending on how her character and the faction are developed next in the franchise.

As such, there are natural ways for the MCU to extend Elektra's story and circumvent the issues that Daredevil: Born Again season 4 being canceled could present - especially if we get a Daredevil movie - though how the franchise handles this matter alongside all the countless other plates it has to spin will only become clear with time.
