EastEnders has released extra online scenes featuring some fan-favourite characters to mark World Menopause Day. The clips were posted on the soap's social media pages, with the caption: "A moment to pause. A conversation worth having."

The first video features Linda Carter at the Tube station experiencing a hot flush. Luckily, Honey Mitchell is nearby with a handheld fan and a listening ear.

The pair have an honest chat, describing the various frustrating symptoms of menopause that "too often go unspoken or get brushed aside".

"Honestly, I think the heat is burning holes in my brain," Linda says, referencing her brain fog.

"Oh, I know. One minute you're Superwoman, managing a million and one things and then suddenly..." Honey empathises, sharing her own memory troubles and mood swings.

The ladies also discuss hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which is used to treat menopause symptoms. The short chat leaves Linda feeling supported, knowing that she's not going through it alone.

In the second clip, Chelsea Fox is talking to Yolande Trueman about the beginning of her perimenopause journey. When she mentions she won't have to worry about her period for much longer, Yolande mistakenly assumes she's pregnant.

After being corrected, Yolande suggests Chelsea visits the doctor, given that she's only 40. Chelsea explains that she's already made the appointment and has been tracking her symptoms.

"My cycle is all over the place. It's doing really weird stuff to me, like I keep waking up in the middle of the night, and I've got this feeling of absolute dread in the pit of my stomach. Negative thoughts, just looping round and round in my brain."

As Chelsea shares her fears of future, Yolande reassures her that life does not go "downhill" after the menopause, though she knows it isn't an easy adjustment.

"You are most than just a baby-making machine, Chelsea Fox. You are a force. You are a strong, successful, independent woman," Yolande reminds her. "And yes, menopause is challenging. But you will rise to that challenge, just like you always do."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
