Jennifer loves TV, especially science fiction. She also loves late-night talk shows, due to her insomnia. Alien: Earth is definitely one of her favorite shows, and she jumps on any chance she gets to write about it. Even on her days off, she will claim an Alien Earth article if one is available.

Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are two of her favorite late-night hosts, and Conan O'Brien before he left his show.

Her Alien: Earth coverage for ScreenRant is by far the work that she is most proud of so far.

She was initially a finance and political editor, but her passion for pop culture convinced her to transition into entertainment journalism.

The sequel to one of Robert De Niro's best crime thrillers hits another major roadblock in a disappointing new update.

The upcoming film, Heat 2, is based on Michael Mann's 2022 novel of the same name, which he co-wrote with bestselling author Meg Gardiner. Instead of serving as a conventional sequel, Heat 2 explores events that take place both before and after the original film, providing additional information and storylines about its characters.

Mann's highly anticipated Heat 2 has encountered another setback. The new movie will revisit the world of Mann's critically acclaimed classic Heat. Starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, the film was released in 1995, with the sequel announced all the way back in January 2022. However, after several developmental issues regarding production, filming for the upcoming sequel is being pushed to 2027.

More than three decades after the original Heat debuted, Mann is preparing to further explore the story. The sequel will feature a star-studded cast that consists of Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, and Stephen Graham. While the main ensemble has been lined up, getting the production off the ground has been more difficult, with the project experiencing multiple scheduling changes and financial hurdles.

During an interview for his upcoming series Nocturne, on NBC's Today, Graham revealed that filming on Heat 2 has been delayed once again. Production for the crime thriller is now expected to begin in January 2027, when it was originally supposed to begin in November 2026.

Graham is set to portray a younger version of Neil McCauley, the iconic professional criminal originally played by De Niro. DiCaprio will star as Chris Shiherlis, who was previously portrayed by Val Kilmer. Meanwhile, Bale will take on Pacino's original role, LAPD detective Vincent Hanna.

Question 1 of 3

This new development isn't the first time the sequel has hit the pause button on production. Mann previously said that he hoped to begin filming in August 2026, but those plans were eventually pushed back in July, when it was also reported that filming would instead take place in November this year.

While the reason for the delay has not been publicly confirmed, it has been speculated that coordinating the schedules of so many high-profile actors could be a factor. However, at the time of this article's publication, neither Mann nor Graham had revealed what the reason behind this delay was.

No official release date for Heat 2 has been announced at the time of this article's writing. The film's international filming schedule and what might potentially be a lengthy post-production process could also influence when the sequel ultimately reaches theaters. However, it is unlikely that the project will be debuting anytime soon.
