Gloria Hunniford's "tears of joy" as she shares baby news on Loose Women

Gloria Hunniford "couldn't be happier" as she made a very special announcement during Tuesday's episode of Loose Women.

The TV and radio presenter, who is a regular panelist on the ITV lunchtime show, shared with her costars on 29 September that her grandson Charlie has become a father, making her a great grandmother.

As a photo appeared onscreen of Gloria holding a newborn, she explained: "I am a very, very happy girl today because this beautiful little baby, Freddie, was born at 4.30am on Sunday morning and he was born to my lovely grandson, Charlie."

Describing the new addition as "such a joy", Gloria confirmed that Charlie is the first born child of her late daughter Caron Keating, who sadly passed away in April 2004 at the age of 41.

Caron had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, and Gloria often talks about her on Loose Women.

Speaking about her new great grandson on Tuesday, Gloria added: "The growth of the family and new life... I couldn't be happier and I could weep even now. There were tears of joy."

In August 2024, Gloria sadly lost her husband of 25 years Stephen Way, who died at the age of 85 after a short illness.

In a statement at the time, Gloria said: "Stephen was a gentleman and a giant of a man, who will leave the most enormous void not only in my life, but our entire family.

"He was an incredibly kind, generous, and caring man, with a delightfully quirky sense of humour, which remained till the end. We had a tremendously happy 25-year marriage and did so many beautiful and exciting things together that I will always cherish.

"It's a great shock and words cannot express my sadness at this time. A bright shining light has dimmed, and he shall be missed at every turn."
