Translate

A mentally disabled woman who lay down in the middle of the road at Jalan Jambatan Sultan in Kuala Terengganu was killed early this morning after being run over by a car.

Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Noor said the incident occurred around 1.15am and that Ainun Wahab, 39, was confirmed dead at the scene, Harian Metro reported.

Azli said preliminary investigations found that a 28-year-old man had been driving his Proton Waja from Gong Badak towards Kuala Berang.

“He failed to avoid the victim, resulting in him running her over. The victim died from several injuries at the scene,” Azli said, adding that the driver was unharmed and the car was not damaged.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless driving.
