Euromatch NPFL: Sports Psychologist Backs Shooting Stars Coaching Staff Amid Slow Start

Translate

Sports psychologist Kehinde Adeyemi has appealed to supporters of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) to exercise patience with the team’s technical crew, strongly urging fans to halt personal attacks against Director of Football Tobi Adepoju and Coach Salisu Yusuf.

Speaking on the Oluyole Warriors’ sluggish early-season form, Adeyemi noted that such struggles are normal in football and warned against writing off the squad or targeting individuals after just seven matches.

He stressed that a failure to secure early home wins is no justification for casting aspersions on the technical setup, emphasizing that plenty of time remains to reverse their fortunes.

An English FA-trained football psychologist, Adeyemi specifically defended Adepoju against mounting criticism by clarifying the distinct administrative role of a Director of Football in the modern game.

“The Director of Football does not sit on the bench with the coaches, hence he should not be targeted,” Adeyemi explained.

While fully acknowledging the profound emotional investment supporters have in the historic club, admitting that poor results cost him sleep as well, he called for calm and perspective.

“Football is very emotional. But what we are asking for is understanding that things are going to be right soon,” he said.

“The team just played seven games in this season and it remains 31. To qualify for continental football is not really about who wins at the early stage, but the team that finishes better at the end of the league.”

“I can understand the fans’ feelings because I also want us to be winning matches, and don’t forget that all the players and technical crew will also collect bonuses for winning, but it is football. We need to understand its dynamics, which entails ups and downs.”

Analyzing the team’s on-field displays, Adeyemi pinpointed poor finishing and chance conversion, rather than a lack of tactical organization or creativity, as the core problem behind their recent drought.

“They played and created many chances during the games. The problem is converting the chances. If they played and were not coordinated and could not create a single chance, it would have been another case,” he added.
